Inspiration Is Everywhere, It Depends On Where You Look.
New Year has passed, new year’s success plan is set, now that March is here, it’s time to go over
For me personally, I decided I was going to dedicate more to myself. Now, this didn’t come from me being bitter or lonely or whatever the popular psychologists want to define, but it came from the personal desire to put myself first for once. I am no saint, don’t get me wrong, I’m far far from it, but I have always put other people and their goals and ideas in front of mine because, well I was always scared my goals won’t come true.
So I entered 2018. knowing this year will try to beat me down and often probably even succeed, but I will find a way to stay true to who I am, what I want and how I feel. So to say the least, I am still on my way to my new year’s success plan.
The question is: are you? What did you set for yourself this year? What did you want? Are you on your way to achieve it? Did you even start? Did you possibly quit already? Now, I understand a lot of people will say I didn’t quit, I will do it…When? How? Do you have a plan? Did you make one? Yeah? No? Why not? Weeeell, to be honest, it seems to me like you didn’t quit you just found a genuine reason to why you aren’t moving from that place in time. I don’t mean to insult you, not at all, I am here to give you a friendly nudge. And yes, I know it takes time and resources for the plan to come true but if you are standing still in one moment not doing anything about it, nothing will change. So I hope you answer to: are you still trying, is positive.
If so, trying to achieve your goal doesn’t have to be realized by the end of this year, it can come true by the end of 2019. or 2020. but the only important thing is that you continue all year long. Of course, this doesn’t mean do it every day, every hour, this just means, stay true and dedicated to your goals. You set them for a reason, so why are you dragging it along or why are you stopping? Dreams will not happen unless you put a timeframe on it and make them a reality. Dreams don’t work on themselves, you have to work on them!
So what can you do?
First things first, don’t worry about it, don’t look at the far future wondering oh my what will I do, or it is a long way ahead. It is, I won’t lie to you, but imagine what lies at the end. Isn’t it worth it all? So c’mon, make a plan and stick to it. Stick to that plan even on the bad days, even on the days you wish all you did was lay down and watch TV shows and movies on Netflix.
Now let’s talk about that idea and dream of yours. Sometimes there are things we want to achieve so we set the plan for ourselves without actually realizing there is another thing hiding inside that goal. So we actually spend a whole lotta time roaming around a plan we aren’t actually trying to achieve anyway. So we stop, we feel like a failure for not making it and we feel bad about it.
Here is an example: a friend of mine actually wanted to achieve something very special to her: she wanted to make more money. Hey, it’s what we all want, am I right? Yep. So what is wrong with this plan? Well, she said she wants to make more money. The only way she knew how, was to work even more than she was working. Which led to her having less time for her family. So she became stressed, more and more each day until one day she came to me and said she is exhausted and she doesn’t see herself getting any closer to her goal. How was that even possible? She was working her ass off!
Well turns out, my friend didn’t actually want to make more money so she can spend it around, she actually wanted to make more money so she could have the opportunity to change her current job for an easier one as she wanted to dedicate her time to starting a family. It turns out what she thought was necessary for her goal to come true, was the thing keeping her away from that goal. Trying to earn more money so you can find an easier job and have more time to start a family wasn’t actually the goal she wanted to achieve.
So after a while and after long days of thinking about what she actually wanted, she quit her job and dedicated herself to preparing her home for the new arrival she was so eager to welcome.
What is The Point of This Story?
Well, we often run after goals and dreams that we don’t actually want but which mask our real desires. We often do this because the way we are seeing things right now is the safe way and we are often scared of letting go of one branch before leaping onto the next one. Which is human nature, but when it comes to taking a risk for ourselves should we draw the line?
Look at the example of all the great minds, Walt Disney, Bill Gates, Einstein, Elon Musk and Tesla, do you think they spent their days going over the same old research and not finding anything, or did they dare themselves to step outside of their comfort zone and try something that science and the world never saw before?
They are the actual proof that someone out there did achieve great things they always knew they would. For once, they might not have thought they would achieve specifically that dream, but they were daring enough to come outside of their comfort zone and be daring.
The key alliance was their imaginations. Intelligence has a great part, but I would say more in the creating that idea than working on it.
So the big difference in finding a great business idea I would say lies in the imagination and whether or not you do anything about those amazing ideas that come to your mind.
That being said, let’s discuss something I always love to bring up.
Why Are These Three So Important?
Well in my case because dreams are meant to come true (or at least in my opinion). You see I am a dreamer I spend my days often with my head in the clouds always imagining what I want and what I would like to see in the world. Now, of course, I have my moments of being realistic but often it’s between the critic and the dreamer having conversations while the realist is trying to slip in and give them honest advice.
You see the dreamers spend their time in the clouds imagining, wishing, wanting, daydreaming but not actually finding a way to make all those moments a reality. While the realist is there to say what is the current situation in the world, if it is possible and which way is the most probable one that will help you achieve that desire or dream. And there is the critic, who often has a way of shooting you down, so easily that you might even get to know sadness. The critic loves the ones who fly high because he then can make them fall very very low. Those are the ¨Yes, but…¨ people in this world. Always finding a way why something can’t be true.
So, to be honest, we all need a little bit of all three to find the exact desire, wish, dream and goal to make happen. The world will not always be easy on you but I’d say you have an amazing chance to make it happen. Here is how you can find a great business idea:
Write It All Down
This is an amazing tool when it comes to self-brainstorming. It is also an amazing opportunity to go back to something you have seen, or read, or thought about. Like for example: did you have any ideas you criticized after? Did you have a certain positive feeling about a certain road you should be taking? Did you find something that inspires you? Did you see something that made you stop and think for a while?
If your answer to all that was yes, and you still ignored it, I want to tell you, next time – don’t. There were all potential ideas, but the critic in you shot you down. So use this opportunity to write everything down and when you have the time and energy go over it. It doesn’t matter if it is at the end of the day or if it is on the weekends. Whenever you have the time, go over everything you wrote down, and see if you can find something worthwhile.
Now, this part has a lot to do with the previous writing. Like I said, it doesn’t actually have to be a journal but it can be a small planner or reminder. Today, of course, you can use your phone. But go over all those ideas and find ones which collaborate with what comes easily to you. Find what you are good at among those writings. But remember, don’t compare yourself to others.
Why? Well simply because that is a battle you will always lose. Because guess what? There will always be someone better than you or someone faster or someone who did something with more ease. That doesn’t mean you should quit. On the contrary, it just means if someone already did it, so can you. So now, don’t be humble about yourself. Go all in, brag to yourself. Say congratulations and pat yourself on the back, you did a good job, there is no reason to keep that away from yourself. Be proud. Be daring. Be brave. Find that idea that is waiting for you.
Use The Internet
At this point in time, there is no reason why we should fight the technology. We should make it our allies. I don’t want to say it is winning the world over, but it is certainly influential. So since there is so much social media, use it to your advantage. Find the popular things and ideas, read their comments and use the good ones to help yourself get started and for the rest, and the bad ones, see what people dislike and use those ideas to be better than those who came before you. It is a simple concept people are often overlooking.
Find A Mentor
Now, this part has become very popular and an amazing tool all successful people are advising. As I said in my previous articles, success is a journey you start which never actually finishes as it isn’t a destination and often already successful people are there to help you start your career and your business.
So if this is something you are seeking to do, don’t hesitate to try and find and mentor. They aren’t so hard to find, plus they are more than willing to help you as they will remember how it was for them at the beginning (well not all of them, but the ones who count).
Say Goodbye To Your Comfort Zone
As I said before, this is the time where you need to be all in. Your comfort zone is great I imagine, but great things happen outside of that big wall you surrounded yourself with. So c’mon, let’s get started… I’m sure you can do this!
